The purpose of this association is multi-purpose; to instill and cultivate the Spirit of Loyalty in its membership and the Spirit of Cooperation with the city of Columbus, the Columbus Department of Fire and EMS, and any and all firefighter and EMS organizations throughout the state and nation, to increase the work standards, benefits and compensation for the members of the Columbus Department of Fire and EMS, to increase the quality of service to the City of Columbus, to elevate the reputation of the association and the Columbus Department of Fire and EMS, to provide support to the community through projects for training, fund raising, support of cummunity projects, volunteer services, and providing assistance on all projects approved by the membership.
The intent of the CFFA is to conduct business with the department management and the city fathers through mutual agreement, understanding, and confidence. All conduct of business and relations with management shall be legal and legitimate.
All members of the association have the freedom of mutual interchange of thought and information and the experience of each member becomes common to all,which will result in a higher developement of the associations moral, intellectual, and social faculities. This will enable all members to share in the gains and honors of an advancing civilization.
This association is not a labor union and is not affiliated either directly of indirectly with any labor union, federation, committee or organization for working personnel. This association does retain the freedom to cause a slow down on non-emergency work, not related to emergency firefighting and EMS duties, by a majority vote of the membership.
The Constitution and By-Laws have been developed and adopted by the membership for the conduct of business and activities of the association for the mutual benefit of all members.
